I have just seen the photos of our commandos on board the Turkish ship that everyone's talking about and I am fuming. All over the world there are demonstrations against Israel and many of them are deserved. Such demonstrations have been happening often and with Bibi Netanyahu's government always ready to add fuel to the fire it has been a tough couple of years for Israel.
But what annoys me is the sheer hypocrisy of it all, people in the UK, USA and Europe demonstrating against our continued occupation of the Palestinians while ignoring the fact that their own national armies are sitting in Afghanistan or Iraq or both.
Last month a North Korean missile sank a South Korean navy vessel killing over forty sailors and we hear nothing from the UN Israel kills nine activists and there is an international furore!
Perhaps if we weren't located in such a strategically important region it would be different, who knows? However I am inclined to believe that the Western public is not simply blind to what their own governments are doing but genuinely doesn't care. Israel however, has become the focal point for so much hatred and so much ill will that is difficult for me to see how we can ever come back from the brink.
